Storm Monday/Tuesday

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

There has been soooo much hype over this storm Monday into Tuesday. Its all just speculation. Nobody knows whats gonna happen. If someone told you we were gonna get a bunch of snow, well they lied. If someone told you we were gonna get just rain, well they still lied.

They don’t know whats gonna happen. Currently noaa.gov has predicted rain starting Monday, then a change over to snow Monday night into Tuesday. Weather Channel has very little precipitation coming, as they say it will not be coming up the coast, rather cutting across south of the Ohio River Valley.

As you can see nobody knows. This is because the two models these forecasters look at are in total disagreement right now. Tomorrow the models will provide better information, and the forecast will be much clearer.

Now I will put in some speculation myself. If it were to be alllllll snow, we will get around 2-4 inches. If its a change over from rain to snow, it will be 1-2 inches. And if all rain, well thats self-explanatory. I think that it will be mostly rain Monday, then some snow Monday into Tuesday morning.

That being said, the best chance of no school is Tuesday.

Tomorrow you will either see a very happy post, or a very upset post.

Prediction

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Sorry this is mad late. But I had ton of Chem homework that I procrastinated on.

Im gonna say 2hr delay. Temps are supposed to get in the low, low 20’s. This means any water on secondary roads will freeze. However, the strong winds will help with drying up some of the roads.

Update/Prediction

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Everything is looking pretty good and forecasts are remain true.

Expect this snow to continue until late tonight. Probably midnight-ish. Then sleet will mix in. After 2am, expect sleet and/or freezing rain. Then From 5am till 10ish, all freezing rain. Then regular ol’ rain will mix in with this.

Another 1-3 inches of snow/sleet can be expected tonight. Ice accumulations up to a quarter of an inch can also be expected.

I think there will be so much snow/sleet already on the ground, the freezing rain/rain won’t do much to our “no school” chances. Snow plows will be so focused on keeping the roads clear, they won’t have time to clear school parking lots and such, by morning.

That being said here is my prediction…

NO SCHOOL!!!

Thats pretty bold. However, im not 100% confident.

Another possibility, is that they give us a two-hour delay then re-evaluate what they are gonna do.

Pray yo, pray.
So I have gotten a special request from a past Poochie of the Week, to make a prediction for Prince George’s County Public Schools. This is because my regular prediction only retains to Carroll County.

The problem with this is that I can’t examine the live coniditions outside, so give me some wiggle room.

Prediction (FOR PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY)

You will definitely get a two-hour delay and you got a decent shot at no school.

Making the final decision, I would say two-hour delay.

Nice…

The snow gods have spoken. That storm got here sooo quick.

<>Actually Carroll County Public Schools haven’t even close yet but its obvious we will have off. Considering Howard, Frederick, Montgomery, and Anne Arundel have all closed. HAHA!

<>The Weather Channel was soooo flippen wrong about this. It makes me laugh. I love when they are wrong.

<>OH WAIT! Just saw it. No school, officially.

<>Today we will get a good 4-5 inches around here. That includes later this afternoon. Then tonight, the snow will turn into sleet and then into freezing rain. These ice accumulations could be major. I am predicting no school tomorrow as well.

<><>The Winter Storm Warning is in effect from now until 6pm tomorrow.  Good news.

<>Its 5:30 and I dunno what to do. Go back to sleep, or go party in the snow… Well enjoy this sacred day. For we might not get another “snow” day ever again. That is reallysomething. We actually got off of school because it was snowing. Not really cold rain. Thats a change.

Enjoy it with your pooches!!

Prediction Change?

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Im feeling like no school now. Noaa.com hasn’t changed their forecast (which is a good thing).

New Predictions:

No school 60%

Full Day of School 0%

Early Dismissal 40%

Two Hour Delay 0%

Prediction

Monday, January 26th, 2009

I really do hate this winter. With a passion.

Prediction:

No school: 40%

<>Two Hour Delay: 0%

<>Early Dismissal: 55%

<>Full Day: 5%

<>What a crappy prediction. Its wierd though. If I were to put all my eggs in one basket, I would say no school. Maybe thats cause I just want it that bad. Whatever. Tonight is a pajama inside out nd spoon under pillow night.

Things have really changed

Monday, January 26th, 2009

I can’t believe this is happening. Its like bloody deja vu!!!!!

So now this sucker isn’t coming in till later tomorrow. At first weather.com had snow (like legit snow) starting at 6am. And now it has few snow showers from 6 to 11am. This is looking bad.

<>Frick on a stick.

So the probability of no school tomorrow is looking not so good. However, no school Wednesday still looks good.

We are under a Winter Weather Advisory and Winter Storm Watch. The advisory is for tomorrow morning into tomm evening. Then a Winter Storm Warning will most likely be put in place from tomm evening to Wednesday.

Tomorrow expect snow showers throught mid-morning until the afternoon. We really need this storm to get here earlier, for no school tomorrow.

Then, Tuesday night, the bulk of the storm gets here. The precip will likely change to sleet and freezing rain throughout Wednesday morning.

I will probably update round 9 for the predictions. I feel pretty uneasy about this.

And here we go….

Monday, January 26th, 2009

WOW!!!!

We’re actually gonna get snow this week. How amazing is that. Okay let break things down.

First of all, Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 6pm tomorrow till Wednesday afternoon. This means that will be the time period the Winter Storm Warning will be in effect till.

Tonight and tomorrow morning will contain the beginning of this monstrous storm. This is when the snow will start. Heavier snow will develop around 6ish tomorrow morning. 1-3 inches. PERFECT!!!!

<>Then the snow will end by noon. This is when the coastal storm develops. Tuesday night it looks like we will get a wintry mix. The wintry mix is due to warm air overloft. Wedesday the snow, sleet, and freezing rain will all end by Wednesday afternoon. (Some say we could get a little plain ol’ rain)

<>Check it yo.

<>Right now I am think no school Tuesday and no school Wednesday. Im pretty confident about that too.

<> I WILL update constantly today as things change.

Holy Crap!!! Snow!!!!

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

So looks like we actually might get a snowstorm. This is nuts…..

Both weather.com and noaa.gov agree on the our area getting straight up snow. Additionally, both the NAM and GFS models agree on the storm.

As of right now, we would get a batch of snow later in the day Tuesday, like afternoon. Then the more consistent snow would begin late Tuesday night and continue until Wednesday morning, like 11ish then a slight chance of snow from there until late Wednesday night.

<>Even though all this looks fine and dandy, this is really far in advance so don’t count on it, not quite yet. If all this is to follow through, a Winter Storm Watch will be issued probably Monday afternoon, and we would not have school Wednesday, and (depending on how much we get) a chance at a 2hr delay or no school Thursday.

This would be awesome…. however im not betting anything on it. This winter has treated us like crap, and I don’t see why it should stop now.

Snow predictions

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

Keep your eyes on snow this week. This looks like the best shot for snow we’ve had all year.

We have a chance of getting snow Sunday night (slight chance), Tuesday into Tuesday night, and then Thursday into Thursday night. I don’t think we’ve ever had this many chances at snow in one week. Look for it to get much colder Saturday night.

<>Although we have about three shots at snow, in our luck all of them will fall through. Many models show that the cold will stick around longer in areas that haven’t got much snow this year. This includes areas south of the mason dixon and into northern Virginia. Woot! that includes us!

<>Check for updates on this situation later this weekend.
