GUSTAV!!!

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

Hurricane Gustav is extremely dangerous right now. Its a Category three at the moment but expected to strengthen into a Cat four and maybe even landfall as a Cat four. Although it may weaken slightly before landfall because of possible increase of wind shear. The expected path takes it west of New Orleans. However, New Orleans will still have extreme storm surge, and hurricane force winds. The winds expected will probably be from 125mph- 145mph, depending on the strength of Gustav. The expected landfall time sometime from midday tomorrow to tomorrow evening. Gustav isn’t the only system out there, theres also Hanna, and a tropical wave expected to develop into a tropical depression in the next 48 hours. Hanna is a tropical storm right now, and its expected to strengthen slowly. The reason for the slow development is because of all of the wind shear Hanna is experiencing right now. Its looking like Hanna is going to give the east coast of Florida and the Carolinas some trouble. Its even possible it could give us some trouble later down the road.

Heres the projected path of Gustav.

<>As for weather…

<>           This weekend looks like its going to be a nice one. Tomorrow all you need to look out for is isolated thunderstorms and then Sunday and Monday will be clear. This weekend look for high’s in thge upper 80s and temperatures increasing as the week goes on. The tropics are the most active theyve been all year. Gustav is now a hurricane and gaining strength soon to be atleast at Cat 2, most likely a Cat 3. Gustav is expected to make landfall anywhere from the northern tip of Florida all the to Texas. The most likely landfall currently would be the west coast of Lousiana. Additionally, Tropical Storm Hanna is a also gaining strength. It expected to take a northern track and them turn southwest, south of the Florida coast. Potentially, this storm could make landfall in the gulf of mexico. Alot to look out for. I will update tomorrow about Gustav and Hanna.
