Update/Forecast

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

Okay!!!! Sorry I havent been updating continuously. A couple of fellow viewers have complained how little I have updated the site in the past couple weeks. One person in particular, was extremely worried that the weather hadn’t changed in over two weeks. Very funny. Because I feel sorry for my viewer, I must make it up to them somehow. So you will be Pooch of the week. It is my pleasure to announce this week’s Pooch of the Week!

Name: John Mitchell

Owner: Stray

<>Description:

<>Don’t let those glasses fool you ladies. This guy is the koolest pooch to walk the streets of Greenbelt. He will serenade with his sweet melodies of the baritone. If not amazing you with his musical talent, he loves to have a good time out and about. Taking walks on the beach and visting the petting zoo is a favorite of his. At times he can get a little out of hand. After all “adventurous” is his middle name. So the next time you see J-Mitch roamin the streets, show him whats up.

<> I hope that now Mr. John Mitchell will fully accept my apologies for not updating the website so continuously. Anyways, as for weather…<>

We have a lottt of rain coming to us today and tomorrow. Flood watch in effect for our area all the way till Monday. The low pressure system is located in the midwest right now, and its going to just whirl in loads of moisture. Tonight one to two inches of rain can be expected, with and additional inch of rain Monday. Because the ground is already extremely saturated, there is a huge risk for floods. If you are in a flood prone area take precautions today because it will flood. Thunderstorms are not expected with this system because its going to be pretty cool here when the rain moves through. This means the will not be unstable and conditions will be not favorable for storms. I will update if any other weather advisories are issued. Check for updates later.

<> On a final note, I would love to say thanks for all the “Pooch of the Week” nominations that have been sent to me. I’d like you to know that there is a list going, but your pooch will be up soon!!!

Stormy Night

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

Tonight and tomorrow is going to be extremely wet and stormy. Flood watch is in effect until tomorrow because of the system moving in. Two to three inches can be expected with this system, so watch out for locally flooded roads. Later today there is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms containing hail and strong winds. I would not be surprised to see a tornado somewhere in Maryland, especially southern MD. Warm “wet” air is flowing in from the coast, while a cold front is moving in from the west. The cold front has a low pressure thats just spinning over the ohio river valley right now. The tornado and severe thunderstorm threat will be greatest when that system moves over us. This will be later tonight around midnight. At night however, the storm does not have that extra power or heat from the sun. This lessens the chance of tornadoes. If a weather advisory is ever issued for our area I will immediately post it. Check for updates tonight!

<> ****Tornado Watch issued for central/northern Virginia. (Same band of storms will move eastward into our area. )
