Tonight and Tomorrow

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Hey guys. Sorry for not updating in a while. Tonight we have a Clipper system moving in from the west. It’ll be a rain/snow mix tonight and into tomorrow morning. A little snow accumulation could be possible if temperatures are lower than expected. The weird thing about this system is that there was a big and strong cold air mass over us last night and this morning, however warm temps seem to barely squeeze in right in front of this storm. Lets hope for a littler cooler temperatures so maybe we can get some snow!

As for the l0ng range forecast. We defintely are beginning to get into a warmer weather pattern, after all it is just about  March. I think there is a possibility for one last wintry weather system, before winter ends. Usually when we have a storm late in the winter season, it normally is pretty intense. So lets hope for one last wintry storm to end the season. I will update tomorrow about possible storms. Cya.

Tonight

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

Originally there was a forecast for freezing rain tonight, but it appears that it will not get below freezing tonight. The low is 34 tonight so yeah don’t expect anything but rain tonight and tomorrow. I’ll have an update later today if anything changes.

Monday Night

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

Aiight, Monday Night there is a chance of freezing rain and then just rain Tuesday. This system is going to come from the Northwest and may just brush us. There is still a lot of time for this system change so I will have updates tomorrow and Monday. There is nothing really in the long range right now that will affect us as in wintry precipitation. This week it will warm up. Look for Monday being the day that it will get into the 50’s. This warm up is why the freezing rain Monday night is a really slim chance. Thats about it for now. Updates later.

Storm?

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

What a crappy storm. Winter Storm Warning has been lifted and turned into a Winter Weather Advisory. Low pressure never ever got organized enough and came into our region. And additionally, its just too warm. Everything is melting, and the rain is unable to freeze on contact. So yeah, we are lucky that the storm dropped about an inch of snow last night. Because this storm is a dud….

No school. Carroll County Schools called it in at 5:30am. However right now (5:30) there is break in the precip around us and only about half of an inch of snow on the ground. Expect this to fill in and precip to come over us over the next 2 hours or so. Its a very long system so I wouldnt get too worried about this dry area to our west. Check for updates alll day.

Southern Low Pressure

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

The low pressure South of us will begin to get involved throughout the night. This will bring the moisture we need to get a severe winter storm. Radar right now is indicating that it is snowing the area, however it is not. The means its snowing above us and the precip is not reaching the ground. Now we just wait for the snow to hit and that southern low pressure to get involved. This is mas importante!!!! I guess 9 will be my prediction for school tomorrow. Check for updates!!

Snow/ICE

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

<> The storm moving in tonight and tomorrow has several parts to it. The main parts include the high pressure sitting over us, the low pressure to the south, and the low pressure to the south and west. The high pressure over us will keep the cold air locked on us for a good part of the day tomorrow. The low pressure to the south and west will be the system that will bring us the majority of snow and warm air aloft causing the ice. The low pressure south of us will more bring warm air aloft causing sleet and freezing rain. This will affect us later Friday morning. This system will have an immense amount of moisture because it is coming straight from the Gulf of Mexico.

Feb 21 map<>

<>The gap in between the precipitation (located on the radar map) will most likely close as gulf moisture will fill it in. Late tonight around 11ish, maybe a little after, light snow will move in to our area. One to three inches is expected before 7ish. If that cold air above us would stay longer <>we could potentially get more snow. Sleet is expected to begin around 7am or 8am. Then freezing rain will mix in a little bit later. In the late morning hours it maybe a mix between snow/sleet/and freezing rain. Freezing rain will be the major form of precipitation tomorrow. Up to 1/3 of inch of ice could be possible tomorrow. If this were to occur power outages would defintely be a risk. Around 9pm I will make my prediction for tomorrow ’s school situation. Check for updates throughout the day.

Tonight Snow

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Radar is indicating that snow is coming to an end soon. The light snow is continuing to persist however. A prediction for school tomorrow will be posted later tonight. Right now I am thinking of a slight chance of a delay with no chance of closed.

Tomorrow night they are predicting snow in the morning and ice all day into Saturday. I’m thinking no school Friday. Check for updates later.

Snow showers

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

It seems that snow showers have developed in the appalacians and Virginia. There is a possibility that these snow showers could leave a dusting of snow from 11pm to 2am. Depending on how much snow there could be a delay. The snow showers that look most likely to hit us are in west virginia right now. An additional problem tonight is that the winds are going to kick up. With ice on the trees this poses a threat for power outages. Look out for falling branches tonight. I will update later tonight to tell you if and what snow showers appear that are going to hit us. So a delay tomorrow is in the possibility. Check for updates later.
